90 Day Novel Challenge

January 1, 2017

What better way to start the year than with a challenge? I printed and signed a contract to challenge myself to finish writing my novel in 90 days. In the contract I have agreed to complete a writing assignment everyday for the next 90 days, and devoting at least 2-3 hours each day to it.

This year I am not going to sit around daydreaming about the premise and characters of the novel I’ll someday write. This quarter I will write it, and if it’s terrible I’ll spend the next 3 quarters rewriting and editing to perfection.

So far I have completed three days of assignments, plus some supplemental writing exercises. Here’s to hoping that practice and a writing routine keeps the momentum going.

How are you getting on with this challenge? I ‘m revisiting mine this year, as I began working through Sarah Domet’s 90 day novel challenge in 2016 but sadly didn’t get very far. However, a new year brings renewed vigour and all that!

Looking forward to following your progress.

I’m actually finding it hard to keep up with the daily assignments as they don’t really motivate me. I feel like the book is geared for writing a contemporary novel or a biography, but for other genres some of the writing exercises don’t really help.

Just a random admirer wishing you all the luck in your creative pursuit! It’s definitely not going to be very easy but I can assure you it’s going to be worth it! I hope you produce a gem <3

Thank you for the well wishes! I’m beginning to realize that my original plot is not what I want to go with … Re-wrote the whole outline and I’m still not happy … I’ll finish the book though just so that I can move on to the next idea.
