2016 is almost at an end and while this has been a rough year in headlines, I must count my blessings because I have done what I set out to do and more.
Visiting japan was one of the things I have always wanted to do and I go the chance to go twice this year! Suffice to say it was even better than I imagined it would be, and if I could fly back now I would.
I continued working on my photography ( albeit at a slower pace as I had many distractions this year). Even exhibiting some of my work in the 15/15 exhibition in December ( which will be on display for the next 3 months in Muharraq at memory of the house)
Earlier this year I got answers on some health issues I have been experiencing, this has probably had the biggest impact on my life.
The real 2016 achievement for me was producing, printing, publishing, and selling my book! Honestly I started the project not knowing if I would finish it, simply because it seemed like such an impossible task. However just the thought that I would become a published author and because my book is a pop-up story about Bahrain I could not give up on the dream. Thankfully the support I received along the way was what helped me succeed.
So here comes 2017, what’s next?
Before I could focus on new begenings I would be remiss to not list the things that I could have done better in the past year.
#1 Read. I have had a very slow reading year, and this is an area I aim on improving in 2017, for how could I fuel my writing without reading.
#2 Writing. I have written very little in the past year too focused on launching my book. I have shied away from the keyboard and I think developed a bit of a phobia in the second half of the year. I outlined my whole novel earlier this year and I haven’t revisited it since.
#3 Connect. Launching my book I realized I have not made enough connections with local writers and authors. Thankfully during the launch I met with a few who reached out and I am looking forward to connecting with them and others in Bahrain and the middle east.
#4 Blog. Yes, I am well aware how neglected this website has been this year. With this post I have an average of 1 post every 8 weeks, underlining how AFK I have been this year and I am open to looking into alternate methods to try to remedy this ( Hypnosis, Acupuncture and Meditation to name a few).
So here is to 2017 may it be a new beginning for us all.
